Common Reasons People Reach Out

Not sure if your question is the right kind to send our way? It almost certainly is. Here are the most common things we help with.

🦜
Adoption Inquiries Interested in adopting a bird through HFFN? Email us or come to a meeting. Read our Adopt a Bird page first — it covers the process in full.
🏠
Surrendering a Bird Need to rehome a parrot? We understand that life circumstances change. Visit our Rescue & Rehoming page or reach out directly — we will have an honest conversation about options and next steps.
🔍
Lost or Found Birds Found a parrot in the neighborhood, or lost one? Call us or post immediately to our Hawaiʻi Parrot & Bird Lost and Found Facebook group — time matters.
🌺
Membership Want to join HFFN? Download the membership application from our home page or email us. You can also simply come to a meeting — that’s how most people start.
📚
Care Questions Have a question our parrot care guides don’t answer? Ask us. Our community includes experienced aviculturists who have seen most situations a parrot guardian encounters.
🤝
Volunteering & Support Want to help with rescue, fostering, education, or events? We are always grateful for willing hands and caring hearts. Email us to let us know how you’d like to get involved.
💛
Donations & Support Want to support HFFN’s mission financially? Visit our Support HFFN page for donation options, or contact us about in-kind contributions and sponsorships.
📰
Press & Media Media inquiries, interview requests, and partnership opportunities are welcome. Please email us with your details and we’ll connect you with the right person.
⚠️ Veterinary Emergencies

HFFN is not a veterinary service and cannot provide emergency medical care for birds. If your parrot is ill or injured, please contact an avian veterinarian immediately. We maintain a directory of avian-experienced vets in Hawaiʻi — see our Health & Veterinary Care page for guidance on finding care.

Our Facebook Communities

HFFN’s most active day-to-day community lives on Facebook. For quick questions, lost bird reports, and community connection, our groups are often the fastest way to get a response from our ʻohana.

🌺 Come to a Meeting

The single best way to connect with HFFN is to come to one of our monthly gatherings. Third Sunday of every month, noon to 4:00 pm, Moanalua Park — 1289 Mahiole Street, Honolulu. No registration, no fee, no pressure. Just bring your aloha. Meeting dates are posted on our Facebook page and in the Hawaiʻi Parrot Forum.
